EPL Result - Summary

(From Soccerway.com)

LONDON, Nov 26 (SW) – Chelsea, Arsenal and the Spurs all won their Premiership match on Saturday, while Sunderland are stuck in last position following a defeat by Birmingham.

Portsmouth - Chelsea 0-2
Argentinian striker Hernán Crespo opened the score for the Blues in the 27th minute, and midfielder Frank Lampard converted a penalty in the 67th minute to set the score to 0-2.

Arsenal – Blackburn Rovers 3-0
Arsenal boosted their chances of chasing title favourites Chelsea by seeing off a Blackburn side who weren’t up to the challenge on the day. Cesc Fabregas scored the opener after just 4 minutes and Thierry Henry doubled the lead on the stroke of half time. Robin van Persie continued his goal scoring form by adding the third goal with 10 minutes remaining.

Wigan Athletic – Tottenham Hotspur 1-2
Spurs closed the gap between themselves and their hosts after a vital away win put just 2 points between the sides. Robbie Keane got the visitors off to a blinding start when he had the ball in the net after just 8 minutes. Edgar Davids doubled the advantage in the 77th, but tensions were high in the final minutes after Lee McCulloch pulled a goal back for Wigan in the 88th minute.

Manchester City – Liverpool 0-1
A single goal was enough for Liverpool to defeat Man City on their home ground and take the three points back to Anfield. The goal came in the 61st minute through a John Arne Riise strike.

Aston Villa – Charlton Athletic 1-0
Villa gained 3 much needed points against a visiting Charlton side to pull themselves away from the dangerous drop zone. Steven Davis scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute to relieve some pressure off David O’Leary’s men.

Sunderland – Birmingham City 0-1
The bottom of the table clash at the Stadium of Light resulted in the home side allowing Birmingham to cast some distance between the two sides. Julian Gray’s strike for City in the 68th minute was enough to see the Black Cats fall 4 points behind the Blues.
